One more working year of the Jewish Foundation of Ukraine has passed away. And following the composed long-term tradition today I am greeting all the people who have been cooperating with us, who support the Jewish activity in Ukraine and all over the world. Last 2007 year the Foundation actively worked in various directions following the only common for all us aim - the consolidation of the Jewish community in our country, making fitting conditions for the activity of the Jewish organizations, their collaboration with the State structures and with the representatives from other ethnic minorities of Ukraine. International contacts and creation of the joint projects and their successful execution were realized in different programs of the Foundation in 2007. Besides, the all-round strengthening of the friendship between Jewish and Ukrainian people is still the main point of the JFU attention. Our Foundation deals with the businessmen who finance the JFU programs and we make and share means collections for the needs of the Jewish communities. We are looking for new work forms, enlist the services of volunteers and Maecenas. Time has shown that the work of the Foundation is needed. For the years of work it has been known in our country and abroad as well. But one should not stop on the achieved points. There are so many outstanding tasks! That is why we are guided by the words of the famous Jewish historian Semen Dubnov who appealing his people more than 100 years ago said "Thus, let us go and work Our work will elapse on the ground of the past but its reaping will completely belong to the present and future. Let us work in such a way so that the concerted action results could help us in the present and become a stable basis for the future!

We would like to call your attention to the activity report of the Jewish Foundation of Ukraine in 2007. 2007 became one of the most successful years in the period of the Foundation work. Our projects got support and recognition of the Ukrainian State. We worked with different international foundations and got a number of grants for carrying out cultural and educational programs. Our Art Festival "Wandering stars" and "Jewish Kiev" publication were recognized by the Ministry of Culture as the best projects among other ethnic minority organizations in 2007 and awarded the diploma and badges of honour. All these points prove the recognition and high appraisal of the Jewish Foundation activity. The conditions of our work changed. The financial considerable reduction from the regular partner - Joint American Jewish Distribution Committee favored the development of a new activity direction of the JFU - carrying out the fundraising programs. Their aim is to train of new personnel in the field of work with foundations and sponsors who can find means not only abroad but in our country as well. The Jewish Foundation of Ukraine was created as an organization called for help each Jewish separately and Jewish community as a whole to live in a Jewish way, not to forget their roots, to pass on the ancient traditions of our people to the next generations and thus to perfect ourselves and look ahead with confidence. And for all these years we have been following the chosen way. So, making the conclusions of the past 2007 year I would like to thank all the Foundation staff, volunteers, sponsors who have helped us achieve the present status and express the hope that the most important events are waiting for us in the future!
